AEF Supply Maps World War I

AEF Supply Area map from the National Archives, superimposed on Google Earth. These AEF maps will require some geo-rectification and some TLC- this is a quick and dirty PS + overlay. Tons of great maps from NARA coming soon!

  1. Dr. Villard,

Your comments today, Jan. 27, 2018, in Columbus, Georgia were informative and enlightening. I also enjoyed talking with you after the Symposium. At that time I mentioned the soldier retired Lt. Colonel Anthony Herbert and his book "Soldier."

Here is a blurb about him:

"Anthony B. Herbert was a United States Army officer, who served in both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He is best known for his claims that he witnessed war crimes in Vietnam, which his commanding officer refused to investigate."

An interesting fact is he was chosen as the U.S. Army's outstanding enlisted soldier during the Korean War (according to his book).

In addition a friend of mine recently finished a book on his Vietnam experience as the leader of 101st Airborne Division Tiger Bravo Co. The Screaming Eagles. His book is a detailed day to day account of the company's on patrol experiences with anecdotes from the men. In the course of a year 30 of its members were killed and 150 purple hearts were awarded. The name of the book is "Tiger Bravo's War" by Lt. Colonel retired Rick St. John.

I hope you find this information of value.
